The Academy is held the third week of June at the N.C. Justice Academy at Salemburg, NC. The Academy is a disciplined week of police recruit like training. Applications are sent to member post in April. Law Enforcement Officers from across the State make up the training staff for the academy. Literally hundreds of years of law enforcement experience from state, county and municipal officers are represented each year. Training topics include: History of Law Enforcement. Constitutional Law, Elements of Search/Seizure; also included are hands on/ role playing scenarios in areas such as domestic intervention, felony vehicle stops, mechanics of arrest, etc. Awards are given to those Explorers who demonstrate academic achievement, as well as self achievement awards voted on by fellow Explorers and Training Staff Members. The motto of the academy is "Teamwork & Discipline, Be Good or Be Gone!!"

This event is held in mid to late fall at B.S.A. Camp Bud Schiele in Rutherford County, N.C. The week-end consists of competitive events for both Post teams and individual Explorers. Events such as Felony Vehicle Stops, Physical Fitness, Obstacle Course, are some of training/competition areas offered. Awards are presented in each competition. This is a camping weekend at one of the finest Boy Scout Camps in the State. All B.S.A. guidelines are strictly enforced along with the N.C.A.L.E.E. Code of Conduct.
